Drummer Steve and percussionist Debs in the studio |
Saturday 31st October - Can of Worms hits
the Studio at Legends Contemporary School of Music in East London to record our first single "Mother Earth". Working with the creativity of muso Gary Ndlovu who was set the challenge of taming our 7 minute wild child song to a radio friendly 4 minutes, the vibe in the studio was awesome. Steve took the liberty of laying down his beats earlier in the week giving Dave the space to lay down the bass first in the studio.

As the layers of the song began to build the worms were super excitable - it's amazing to hear your sound take shape layer by layer - especially with so many layers in an eight piece band!

Next up April hit the studio on sax with Cindy supporting - needed those vocals in my ear to work from :)

And finally it was Cindy's turn to hit "the fish tank". This was a serious job and Cindy did really well - working with direction from Gary and adding harmony lines as extra layers to the song.

By the end of the day the band were extremely excited to be hearing the rough version of the song - we can't wait until the mixed version is completed and want to say a HUGE thanks to Gary at the studio who literally lived "Mother Earth" for the day.
Watch this space for the bright shiny new single!
